Christmas was around the corner and i do have some (well deserved) free time on my hands and thats where the questions started.
Where do I want to go and how long do i want to be gone for 🙂
yes, theres a lot of places Id like to see and travel to but as a woman i am not sure all of those places are safe to travel alone.
Since i am a newly single i decided to stay in Switzerland but still hop on a train and head towards the mountains for two nights. A little Getaway never hurt nobody and i do love snow and the mountains- so isnt this a perfect place to be at before christmas? the snow, the decorations, people in their holiday mood, and just far enough to feel like i am away from home on a break 🙂
i googled for hours to find a perfect location where i can bring the dogs (but wont have to switch trains a lot) an affortable place (since i wont be sharing the room) but yet something nice and cozy.
I found a cool hotel in Gstaad, the rooms looked very nice, the reception was very friendly on the phone, they offered to pick me up at the trainstation, entertainment in bar, a gym and off, so there i was off to the Hotel HUUS in Gstaad.
I took the train in Zurich at 1 pm and got off in Spiez to change the trains and, oh my god, what followed was AMAZING. first off, trust me its not easy travelling with two dogs, a suitcase, two dogbags and a heavy backpack but since i am very strong minded- when i want something i go for it – well we all know where’s a will theres a way (or train) 🙂
anyway, i got off the train in Spiez and my ticket told me to take the next train to Gstaad, which was called Golden Express. The train was BEUATIFUL! Huge windows, big seats, lots of space and since i had treated myself to an upgrade i had a whole corner to myself. i mean, as chandler would say, could it be any cooler?? I added the picture for you guys to see for yourself. I didnt even have to pay extra – this was just the train that was scheduled for this route. Lucky me and off to a good start.
after this beautiful trainride i called the hotel and as agreed they picked me up at the station. arriving at the hotel i was asked if id like a welcome drink and given my room card. unfortunately the room i got had tiny bed in it but a beautiful terrace. however since i am most likely to share my bed with the two doggies i called the reception and asked for a different room. they were super nice and put me in a differet room within a few minutes. (will add the picture here as well)…,-after walking the dogs i decided to check out the lobby area. the barkeepers where very attentive, there was a dj thats playing nice music and luckily not too loud, and i guess, for parents very usefull,- a kids club and kids only restaurant. The hotel also offers a Spa with pool, a sauna, massages, a gym and a game room. after a good night sleep i took the doggies out and made myself a coffee in bed. i have this coffee desire in the
morning that i got from my mum 🙂 we love our two coffies in the morning and therefore the hotel rooms need to have a coffee machine in it.after my coffee in bed i went to check out the breakfast buffet that is included in the price. sounds like i am doing a commercial for this hotel but i am not. i am actually just proud that i did this trip by myself. every little step gets easier and proves yourself that you can do it with or without someone by your side.
anyway back to the actual topic, my first trip as a single. i must admit i did get excited to book a hotel and a little getaway. it was nice for me to get out of the house and do something different for once. it was a relaxing trip but there were lots of couples and i did feel a bit lonely at some points during the trip. what i also noticed was how many couples were not talking to each other but rather starring into their phones. its so sad, its like they dont appreciate the person across from them and rather dive in to the internet. gladly i took it as a lesson and note to myself, to never take the phone out when i am with another person to be able to focus on quality time. back home i still have 10 vacation days and am starting to wonder if i should go on another trip 🙂 lets see
