it was christmas day, the 25th december.
me and one of my girlfriends met up with our puppies and went for a walk in downtown zurich. we wanted to grab a coffee and sit in the sun but every coffeehouse we saw was closed. we sat on a bench at Paradeplatz and then looked over to the newly opened Mandarin Oriental Savoy Zurich.
We walked to the entrance and were greeted by a friendly staff that luckily had a nice spot left in the lobby lounge for us and our dogs. After checking out the Snack Card we went from wanting a coffee to ordering the wagyu sliders with truffle fries, champange and a Ginger Ale 🙂 it was christmas after all.
What a great choice. We each got two little wagyu burgers with cheese and caramelized onions and let me tell you, those were the best ones i had so far in Zurich and for a very fair price, as were the truffle fries.
There was a nice ethanol fireplace that made it feel a bit more like christmas as the blue sky outside. we sat there for almost two hours, chated, had good company and delicious cappuccino and left with a great impression. the hotel also offers a brasserie which i will definately check out at one point 🙂
our meet up turned into a little christmas celebration on our own and i am very thankful to have spend the lunch with my friend at this nice place.
I mentioned earlier that the holiday season is not easy as a single, but then i remembered the words from four famous men: i get by with a little help from my friends– and trust me, having good friends makes everything a little bit easier.
